There's no bussiness like Church bussiness

Lagos– An international business man has infuriated the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, by writing to them asking how much it would cost to buy the Church’s franchise.

The business man made his fortune through spotting opportunities and investing shrewdly.

He recently decided to focus on Nigeria when he learnt that the country is so rich that the president’s food budget for a year is a mouthwatering 1 Billion Naira (£4,000,000).

Said he: “They must be richer than even theU.S.!”

He relocated to Nigeria with his team of business analysts and they set about probing the Nigerian economy to determine where to invest.

Along with his team he identified the Church business as the fastest growing sector in the economy and the safest investment bet as the sector is characterized by low risk and very low barrier to entry.

As a seasoned investor however, he recognized the folly of reinventing the wheel and so, rather than start his own Church from scratch, he decided to secure a franchise from one of the existing trusted brands.

Armed with a business proposal that involved leasing a warehouse in the Ikeja area ofLagos, hiring singers from an African-American Churchin the U.S.A., and an expansion plan that involved Abuja, Ibadan, and Port Harcourt, he approached the RCCG and made his offer.

The Church’s leaders are said to have been shocked at the proposal. They rebuked him and of course, turned him down.

In fairness to the Church, the business man’s excellently prepared business case included a growth path analysis that very well could have seen his business eating into RCCG’s membership, and hence profits in the long run.
